FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION

  • Q: When is the best time to go Rafting in CDO?

A: Cagayan de Oro offers rafting packages throughout the year, there are seasonal changes that make for varying conditions on the river. January to June: Dry Season – trips are normally hot, with low and clear water is more technical and more fun. July to December: Rainy Season - skies are normally cloudy, with occasional afternoon showers and the water levels are higher. At higher water, the rapids are more challenging.

  • Q: Is it a problem if I cannot swim?

A: It is not a problem if you cannot swim. In fact, neither can many of the people who come on our rafting trips. We supply PFD’s (Personal Floating Device). Each person is required to wear one at all times during the trip.

  • Q: We would like to bring our children. Is there a minimum age requirement?

A: We recommend our trips for children six years old and older for our basic and advance course. If your children have camping experience, enjoy outdoor life, feel at home around water, and adjust easily to being with an adult group, they will enjoy the trip with you. We leave the final decision to parents. We require that adults accompany youth under 12 on all of our rafting trips.

  • Q: I get seasick easily. Is this a problem on a river trip?

A: You are extremely unlikely to experience any kind of motion sickness while aboard our rafts. This has not been a problem with any of our guests. The up-and-down action of the raft while going through rapids is fun and lasts for just a few minutes at a time. On calmer water, the motions you feel are relaxing.

  • Q: Is rafting dangerous?

A: Rafting is thrilling, exciting, wet, wild and unbelievably fun. However, as with all adventure sports, there is inherent risk involved. That risk contributes to the excitement, and is one of the reasons people enjoy rafting so much. Our guides are trained to minimize and manage risks, and, statistically, you're safer in a raft than in your car. One government report noted that the injury rate for whitewater rafting is similar to that for bowling! The most common injury on most rafting trips is sunburn, and most other injuries occur on land, especially getting into and out of the boats.

Our experienced river guides and staff are all well-trained, well-informed and conscientious individuals who place your safety above everything else. All guides are screened and trained by the International Rafting Federation (IRF) for SAFETY and STANDARDS in river techniques and are First Aid and CPR-certified by the Philippine National Red Cross.

Guests are required to read and sign an Acknowledgement of Risks and Release form before registering and participating in our trips, so that you go rafting with the understanding that you are aware of and agree to accept the responsibility for all the risks.

  • Q: What do I need to wear?

A: Light material clothing is recommended. Swimwear will do, hats, bull caps & don’t forget sun block. You can bring your personal dry bags as well.

  • Q: What about cameras?

A: You can purchase single-use waterproof cameras. If you have an exceptionally valuable camera, you have an option to either bring it along or leave it at home. However, our company has its own official Photographer to document your rafting experience. Then it’s your choice if you want to avail the photos on CD copy.

  • Q: What about the weather? Will we go rafting even if it rains?

A: The answer in most cases is yes, as long as the cold and the winds do not become a possible threat. Thunderstorms are short-lived and offer a wonderful natural perspective. Sun streaming through the clouds is part of the outdoor experience. Save that extra film for the odd rainbow. It might just be the most memorable whitewater rafting trip of your life.

  • Q: How about changing and restrooms?

A: At the “Put-in,” we don’t have clean toilet and restroom facilities. We suggest you wear your rafting attire before we leave downtown area. But in the “take-out” area, we have provided a good set of facilities for your after-trip needs.
